Life at Virgin Galactic

These are the things that define Virgin Galactic...

Virgin Galactic will build the world’s first commercial space line that will enable dramatically more people and more activities in Space through design, cost, and safety innovation.

We realize that our undertaking is both audacious and incredibly ambitious. We will make history by creating access to space for all people. We know that achieving our mission will require highly unusual levels of tenacity and dedication.

Although our mission is bold we are humbled by the awesomeness and wonders of Space. Any egos are checked at the door.

We know our success will be a function of the strength of our ingenuity and the quality of our execution.

So we obsess over safety. Safety is our North Star.

We obsess over our astronauts. Delighting each of our astronauts is vital to our future.

Virgin is in the business of innovating and making dreams come true, so our internal focus is to deliver an environment that ideally serves this business of space innovation. We invest in flat, highly talented teams. We believe in strong delegated authority. We see it as our responsibility to make it as easy as possible for builders to build and for innovators to innovate.

We only want the world’s most talented people and have attracted some of the best and brightest to our offices in Las Cruces, New York, London, Mojave, Pasadena and Washington, DC. Our quality bar is high and we hold ourselves responsible.

Finally we find the fun in all we do and the joy in making dreams come true.

"Since I was a child I have dreamed about how I could take flight and explore the universe. On my third day of entering the commercial space industry I was fortunate to be in Mojave for the win of the Ansari X-Prize by Burt Rutan and SpaceshipOne. This not only proved to me, but the world, that passion and intelligence can conquer any challenge. Now I’m an integral part of the avionics design of Virgin Galactic’s spaceships and will one day be aboard SpaceshipTwo and continue my exploration with this awesome group of people."
Marty Holmquist Avionics Lead, Space System Development
