Conceptual Interior for SS2
Virgin Galactic was the main attraction at Wired Magazine's NextFest annual technology and innovations exhibition which was held in New York
Virgin Galactic was the main attraction at Wired Magazine’s NextFest annual technology and innovations exhibition which was held in New York (29 September to 1 October 2006). Over a hundred individual exhibitors presented unique inventions, prototypes, designs and interactive experiences. Sir Richard Branson unveiled the conceptual interior of SpaceShipTwo to the worlds press in a blaze of media coverage. An exact replica of SpaceShipOne hung directly above the VG representation of SS2, highlighting Virgin’s investment and commitment to our project.
A packed press conference listened to presentations by Will Whitehorn (VG President) and Stephen Attenborough (Commercial Director) and watched an impressive new animation which gave an insight into the Virgin Galactic ‘experience’. Richard then took part in a Panel question and answer session before taking part in the official NextFest Opening Ceremony along with Mayor Bloomberg and the latest shuttle astronauts. The team hosted a drinks reception for many of our customers and various VIPs including Buzz Aldrin, Brian Binnie, Philippe Starck and Governor Pataki, in front of the SS2 mock-up and SS1 replica. We were also very pleased to be able to entertain our newly accredited Space Agents from the US (Virtuoso) and Australia and we are looking forward to working with them closely as the project evolves. Following the worldwide coverage, including NBC’s Today show, we have had some wonderful feedback from our customers who are now eagerly looking forward to the unveiling of the real spaceship.
