Name a Virgin Galactic Spaceship. Shape a Piece of Spaceflight History.

TGP VirginGalacticBrand 1402-v3 (1)

As Virgin Galactic prepares the next generation of spaceships that will carry thousands of future astronauts to space, we're inviting the world to help us name one of them.

Starting today, you can vote for one of four finalist names for a spaceship that will join Virgin Galactic's growing fleet and the next chapter in our journey to expand access to space.

We're Building It. You Name It!

We invited Virgin Galactic teammates and Future Astronauts to submit name ideas. The response was extraordinary. We received 276 imaginative, heartfelt, and wildly creative submissions inspired by exploration, renewal, mythology, collaboration, and the awe that space inspires.

After careful consideration, we've selected four finalists that embody the ambition, optimism, and spirit of exploration at the heart of Virgin Galactic. Now, the final decision belongs to you.

Voting is open today, August 11 through August 27, and we encourage everyone ages 13 and up, from lifelong space enthusiasts to those simply inspired by what's possible, to participate.

Finalist 01: Horizon

Earth’s horizon appears as a blue curve against the black of space, a line that’s always there from any vantage point. A horizon isn’t a summit to be conquered or a border to be crossed. It’s a promise that there’s always more, that every mile forward reveals another mile beyond. It’s there for everyone to find and share.

Finalist 02: Explorer

Every explorer stands on the shoulders of those who charted the world before them. It’s a force carried across generations, from the navigators who sailed by unnamed stars, to the scientists who sent Apollo to the Moon. This name makes clear what the mission is: science, curiosity, and the human yearning to discover.

Finalist 03: Ascend

The process of ascending starts long before the rocket motor ignites. It begins with a decision to rise, a decision shared by the crew in the cabin and by everyone who made that climb possible, from the engineers to the technicians to the pilots. The next stage of ascent happens more quietly, inside the person who looks back and, for the first time, sees the world they came from as one place.

Finalist 04: Apeiron

Apeiron is an ancient Greek word meaning boundless, infinite. It captures what astronauts actually see from above: a view so vast that borders dissolve and the divisions we live inside fall away. But the name reaches far beyond the view. Human spaceflight is still in its opening chapter, and we don’t yet know how it will change us or what new understanding it will unlock. Apeiron approaches the unknown with confidence.

More Than a Name

A name is more than what's painted on the side of a spaceship. It becomes part of every mission, every milestone, and every story that follows. Virgin Galactic's first commercial spaceship, Unity, became a symbol of bringing people together through the shared experience of space. Now, one of our newest spaceships is ready for its own defining name.

This is a rare chance to help shape a piece of spaceflight history, and to be part of a moment that will inspire future explorers for years to come. Cast your vote, share it with friends and family, and join us as we take another step toward opening space to more people than ever before.

We can't wait to see what you choose.
